We Bring Laser Therapy to Your Home — Advanced Foot Treatment Without Leaving the House
When most people picture a podiatry house call, they imagine a doctor arriving with nail clippers and a foot file. At Balance Foot & Ankle, we arrive with a dual-wavelength medical laser. We are one of the only mobile podiatric practices in Michigan bringing FDA-cleared MLS laser therapy directly to patients’ homes — delivering the same advanced technology we use in our Howell and Bloomfield Hills offices, now at your bedside.
What Is MLS Laser Therapy?
MLS (Multiwave Locked System) laser therapy uses synchronized dual wavelengths of light — 808nm and 905nm — to penetrate deep into tissue simultaneously. This produces measurable biological effects:
- Accelerated wound healing — stimulates cellular metabolism and collagen production in damaged tissue
- Reduced inflammation — decreases inflammatory mediators without systemic side effects
- Pain relief — inhibits pain signal transmission at the cellular level
- Improved circulation — promotes vasodilation and lymphatic drainage at the treatment site
These effects are especially powerful for patients with diabetic wounds, chronic foot pain, post-surgical healing, and neuropathy-related complications.
Who Benefits from Home Laser Therapy?
- Diabetic wound patients — non-healing ulcers, pressure sores, and skin breakdown respond well to laser-assisted healing
- Chronic pain patients — plantar fasciitis, neuropathic pain, tendinopathy, and arthritic foot pain
- Post-surgical patients — accelerated healing of incision sites after foot or ankle surgery
- Patients with venous stasis ulcers — laser therapy improves the wound environment for chronic venous wounds
- Hospice and comfort care patients — gentle pain relief without systemic medications
The Same Technology as Our Clinic — At Your Door
Our portable MLS unit is the same FDA-cleared technology we use for in-office treatments at our Howell and Bloomfield Hills locations. Patients who have experienced laser therapy in our offices can now receive it without the burden of travel. Patients receiving home visits for the first time can access a level of technology they’ll find at no other mobile podiatry service in the region.

We don’t just bring the laser. Every Balance Foot & Ankle home visit includes our full capabilities: mobile ultrasound, complete wound care kit, diabetic shoe program, 3D orthotic scanning, nail and skin care, and board-certified surgical expertise — all at your home.

Laser Therapy Home Visits in Michigan: MLS Laser for Homebound Patients
MLS laser therapy — the FDA-cleared photobiomodulation treatment used for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, neuropathy, and chronic foot pain at Balance Foot & Ankle — is typically delivered in our Howell or Bloomfield Hills offices. However, for homebound patients in Michigan who are strong candidates for MLS laser treatment but cannot travel to the office for the standard 6–12 session protocol, we offer limited home visit laser therapy as part of a coordinated care plan. Home visit laser sessions are logistically more complex than office visits — the MLS device is transported to the patient’s home, requiring advance scheduling and a clear access path — and are most appropriate for patients who have already established care with our practice and are mid-course in a laser treatment protocol but have had a change in mobility status.

The most common clinical scenarios for in-home MLS laser therapy in Michigan include: patients who began a plantar fasciitis or neuropathy laser protocol at our Howell or Bloomfield Hills office but became temporarily homebound due to a surgery, fall, or acute illness; and patients with severe peripheral neuropathy who are functionally homebound and for whom neuropathy laser treatment represents a high-value quality-of-life intervention. The home visit laser session follows the same protocol as office-based treatment and is performed by the same trained clinical staff. Patients and families interested in in-home laser therapy should discuss candidacy with our treating podiatrist during an initial consultation at our office or by phone. Call Balance Foot & Ankle at (810) 206-1402 to discuss whether in-home laser therapy is appropriate for your situation.
