Pontiac is close — but we also come to you

Our Bloomfield Township office is a short 12-minute drive south on Woodward from downtown Pontiac. For patients who are homebound or can’t easily travel, we also offer in-home podiatry visits across Oakland County. Same three board-certified podiatrists, wherever we see you.

The foot & ankle problems we see most from Pontiac

Pontiac is a working city with a big daytime workforce and communities that are hit hard by diabetes — and the foot problems we see reflect both:

  • Diabetic foot care and wound care. This is some of the most important work we do here — routine diabetic foot checks, callus and nail care, and early treatment of sores before they turn into serious wounds. If you have diabetes, numbness, or a slow-healing spot, don’t wait on it.
  • Standing-all-day heel and forefoot pain. With major employers like United Wholesale Mortgage and warehouse and healthcare workers on their feet through long shifts, plantar fasciitis and ball-of-foot pain are constant visitors.
  • Bunions, hammertoes, and arthritis — the structural problems that make every step and every shoe hurt, treated conservatively first.
  • Ankle sprains and sports injuries from school teams, rec leagues, and weekend athletes.
  • Ingrown toenails, warts, and stubborn nail fungus — quick, satisfying fixes that people put off far too long.

We find the real cause first, use the least-invasive fix that will hold, and are straight with you about whether surgery is or isn’t needed.

Podiatry services we provide for Pontiac patients

Below is what we actually do about the problems above — what the visit looks like, and what we can usually settle in one appointment.

Diabetic foot care, neuropathy testing, and wound prevention

Diabetes is the single biggest reason Pontiac patients end up in our office, and it is the area where coming in early changes the most. A diabetic foot exam here means a monofilament and vibration check for nerve damage, a pulse and circulation assessment, and a close look at pressure points, calluses, and nail borders — the places small problems start. If you already have a sore that has not closed, that is not a wait-and-see situation. We take pressure off the area, debride it, and get it under active diabetic foot and wound care. We accept Medicare and Medicaid, so a routine protective foot check is usually covered rather than out of pocket.

Ingrown toenails, usually handled the same day

An ingrown toenail is the problem people put off longest and regret most. It is also one of the fastest things we fix. The toe is numbed, the offending border of nail is removed, and most people walk out with the pain already gone. If the same toe keeps doing it, we can treat that section of nail root so the edge stops growing back at all. See ingrown toenail treatment for what the visit involves.

Heel pain and plantar fasciitis after long shifts

If your worst pain is the first few steps out of bed, or the last hour of a shift on a concrete floor, that pattern points to the plantar fascia. Warehouse, hospital, and retail workers around Pontiac spend eight to twelve hours on unforgiving surfaces, and the tissue along the bottom of the foot takes it. We confirm what is going on with an exam and on-site digital X-ray where it is warranted, then treat with stretching and taping, an injection when the tissue is genuinely inflamed, footwear changes, and orthotics if arch mechanics are driving it. More on heel pain and plantar fasciitis.

Custom orthotics that fit work boots and safety-toe shoes

Off-the-shelf inserts rarely survive a steel-toe boot. We scan the foot in 3D and build custom orthotics to the shoe you actually work in, so the device controls the arch without crowding an already tight toe box. That matters most for flat feet and for anyone whose arch gives out as the shift goes on. Pain that is fine at hour two and brutal at hour ten is almost always a mechanics problem, not a cushioning problem.

Bunions, hammertoes, and arthritic joints

Bunions and hammertoes are progressive, but they are not automatically surgical. We start conservatively: footwear that stops provoking the joint, padding and spacers, orthotics to slow the deformity along, and an injection when an arthritic joint has become the main pain generator. When a bunion has passed the point where conservative care holds, our board-certified surgeons perform minimally invasive correction through small incisions, which generally disturbs less soft tissue and allows a quicker return to weight bearing than a traditional open procedure.

Ankle sprains, Achilles pain, and getting back to work

An ankle that is still swollen and painful a week after you rolled it needs imaging, not more ice. We X-ray on site to rule out a fracture, grade the sprain, and put you into the right level of support with a rehab plan so the ligament heals tight instead of loose. Repeat sprains almost always trace back to a first sprain that was never properly rehabbed. Achilles tendonitis follows the same logic: work out whether the problem sits in the tendon body or at its insertion into the heel, because the two are loaded and treated differently.

Toenail fungus, thick nails, and skin problems

Thick, discolored, crumbling nails are usually fungal, and they do not clear up on their own. We confirm the diagnosis rather than guessing at it, then treat with topical, oral, or laser therapy depending on how much of the nail is involved and what else you take. For thickened nails and painful calluses that are more about comfort than infection, our medical pedicure is done in the office with sterilized instruments — a meaningfully safer option than a salon if you are diabetic or on a blood thinner. More on toenail fungus.

Insurance & your first visit

We accept most major plans — Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, HAP, Meridian, and Priority Health among them — no referral needed. Bring your insurance card, medication list, and the shoes you wear most. Start on our new-patient page or call (810) 206-1402.

What to expect at your first visit

Give yourself 30–45 minutes. We listen first, examine both feet, and use on-site digital X-ray when a fracture, bunion angle, or arthritis question needs a same-day answer. You leave knowing what’s wrong, what we’d try first, and what it’s likely to involve — no mystery, no pressure toward surgery that isn’t needed. If cost is a worry, say so up front; we’ll tell you what your plan typically covers before we do it.
